I have served Canadian seniors and persons with disabilities in a multitude of settings. These valuable and rewarding experiences helped to enrich my life, while sparking my vision to seek unity in diversity.
The Canadian Alliance for Animal-Assisted Services is a young seedling, however, by helping to remove barriers such as: misguided attitudes that produce a handicap; unproductive criticism; complacency and disparity I truly believe the seed of opportunity can flourish into a magnificent array of abilities, improving quality of life, well- being, while increasing autonomy.
It has been scientifically proven it is impossible for the bumble bee to fly, nevertheless, the bumble bee successfully goes about his business. He knows no limits, only what he needs.
Limitations are only as big as those imposed on one another and ourselves. Unity in diversity will help us to transform barriers into practical solutions, and limitations into sweet success.
To advance Animal-Assisted Services, is to encourage innovative alternatives in protecting the health of Canadians in the present time, while preparing for the needs and challenges of the future.
