These muscle contractions can interfere with normal function. Dystonia can affect any part of the body, including the arms and legs, trunk, neck, eyelids, face, or vocal cords. The symptoms of dystonia may begun during childhood, in adolescence, or in adulthood. Generally, the earlier the onset of symptoms, the greater the chances are of progression of symptoms with age. Dystonia can exist on its own or as a result of birth injury, trauma, toxins or stroke. | |
