Sports and Recreation    Photo of two wheelchair athletes racing together.

Practically every sport or leisure pursuit can be adapted for the enjoyment of someone with a disability, to say nothing of those sports which are primarily disability oriented. Basketball, horseback riding, golf, fishing, darts, skydiving, hockey, dance... people with disabilities can and do participate in all of these activities, and we have the information and resources to prove it! Check it out in this section of EnableLink.

  • People with disabilities have the right to access nature, too! The efforts of a man with multiple sclerosis and his neighbours to open up a fully accessible wilderness trail might inspire you to take action in your own community. Read "Accessing Nature and Opportunity", an article in the Spring 2001 issue of ABILITIES magazine.

Don’t forget to share! Send us your sports and recreation news, updates and events to include on EnableLink. E-mail [email protected].
