The awards recognize individuals and/ organizations who have made a difference in the city by striving for equitable treatment of women, contributing to race relations or improving access for people with disabilities. These awards are the Constance E. Hamilton Award, William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award and the Access Award. This year two new awards have been established. The Pride Award for persons or organizations who have made a significant contribution to the well-being of the LGBTT community. The second new award is the Aboriginal Affairs Award for a person or organization that has made a significant contribution to the quality of life for the Aboriginal community.
