It increases the risk of bone fractures occurring with only a minor fall or injury. The bones in the wrist, hip and spine are most often affected by osteoporosis. Over time, the bones in the spine can collapse (compression fractures), resulting in a person becoming shorter. Osteoporosis can also cause a person to stoop forward and appear to have a hump on his or her spine. Hip fractures can lead to immobility and hospitalization. | |
