Staying healthy is the key to staying on top of many of the effects of disability. And who says that just because you have a disability, you cannot be brimming with health? Health involves the body, the mind and the spirit. EnableLink has resources that touch on all these areas. Come and explore!

  • Also known as "breath skill," the ancient art form of Qigong is often prescribed for chronic illnesses and various disabilities. The Winter 1999 issue of ABILITIES magazine featured an overview of Qigong meditation, breathing and exercises. Maybe it could benefit you!

  • The Wellness and Disability Initiative is a health information program for consumers and professionals, offered by the British Columbia Coalition for People with Disabilities. Information is offered in plain language, in audio cassette format, on videos and in large print. Call toll-free, 1-877-232-7400.

  • Many people with disabilities deal with recurring urinary tract infections. An article in the Winter 2000 issue of ABILITIES magazine talks about how and why urinary tract infections occur, and what you can do to reduce the risk.
