It is well worth taking the time to explore this section fully. It is brimming with accounts of many important issues - many of which tie directly into the struggle for equality in which people with disabilities have been engaged for more than a generation.

  • The Sub-Committee on the Status of Persons with Disabilities has the first interactive website for a parliamentary committee. This site contains a wealth of information on the Canada Pension Plan Disability Program and their work on the Sub-Committee. Join their news list for updates on the progress being made. They'll also keep you informed on how you can participate in their upcoming on-line consultations. http://www.parl.gc.ca/disability

  • Disability Statistics are useful because they can be used for education, awareness, lobbying, and in support of projects, ideas and goals. EnableLink would like to have a section on our website where we post disability-related, statistical information. If you, or your organization have collected statistics specific to disability, please e-mail your findings to [email protected] and we will post them for all to share. Thanks for helping the community!

  • The Disability History Project is a community history project that welcomes your participation. This is an opportunity for disabled people to reclaim our history and determine how we want to define ourselves and our struggles. People with disabilities have an exciting and rich history that should be shared with the world. Please e-mail or mail anything that you would like to see become part of the Disability Social History Project, including your disabled heroes, important events in disability history, and resources. Check it out: http://www.disabilityhistory.org/dshp.html.

  • Concordis works on peace and international conflict resolution. It brings together expatriate communities resident in Canada, drawn from opposite sides of foreign conflicts, and brokers a collaborative dialogue between them, to develop solutions to the hostilities in their regions of origin. Their hope for their website mirrors the philosophy that drives their broader mission: that in an era of mobility and instantaneous communications, it is possible to bring together people from around the world and forge the mutual understanding that is the foundation of a sustainable and just peace everywhere. Check it out: http://www.concordis.org/.

  • For over six years the Ontarians with Disabilities Act Committee has been advocating for legislation that would support the rights of people with disabilities to equal participation in society. In the current issue of ABILITIES the editor-in-chief interviews David Lepofsky, Chair of the Ontarians with Disabilities Act Committee. Read all about it in Calling for Action.

  • Looking for advocacy and support services? Visit our Advocacy and Support Groups Directory to find out who is out there and ready to help.

  • The Law and Social Policy Chat Room provides a great opportunity to connect with others and compare notes with people of like mind, around the corner - and across the world. Check it out today!
